Both blocks are architecturally almost identical. Their only difference is in the mirroring and the change of functions in the ground floor. The mass of the block has a square floor plan, which maintains a flat urban mass from the outside. The retreating terraces are oriented inside the block, thus creating a conical atrium. This atrium does not follow a square shape but is widened on the north-south sides. Around the perimeter of the block there are flats which, together with the supporting structure, form a facade from the outside. The inner perimeter of the block consists of shared terraces. These terraces form the communication of the whole building. All stairs are connected to it. The terraces give way to each floor by 1.5 m and with them the staircase arms are located on the east and west sides of the atrium. To the north and south are two stairwells with an elevator. The floor plan arrangement is centrally axially symmetrical.
Methodological tool for assessment of authenticity of woody taxa in garden monuments
Pejchal, Miloš ; Štefl, Lukáš
The aims of the publication are to enable activities in the field of determination of the taxonomic authenticity of woody species. We provide an approach suitable to cases when there is not enough data on the history of their use, both from archival materials and from the evaluation of woody vegetation elements preserved in the given monument, the results of garden archaeology, etc. The data covered by the publication contribute to the determination of both aspects of authenticity and for the evaluation of the authenticity of the material substance of woody vegetation structural elements. We also provide information on the time of introduction into culture.

Between historical downtown and periphery
Likavčanová, Jana
This article documents the space between historical downtown and periphery. Rampart was situated here from the 13rd century to the begining of the 19th century that were developed and expanded. Rampart was demolished after this period and Brno’s ring boulevard was created in this place like in Vienna. Brno’s ring boulevard was designed as a promenade with parks and important buildings. Nowadays are discovered the fragments of the original rampart as a proof of it’s history. Brno’s ring boulevard is arterial road so many of it’s parts aren’t used by pedestrians and looks like abandoned. It divides the historical downtown and periphery as the rampart instead to conects them in one organism. This sitiuaton invite us to devote Brno’s ring boulevard in our projects. Last year was international workshop in Fakulty of architecture in Brno university of technology. Also some students of this university in their project solved problems of the Brno’s ring boulevard in their projects in winter semester 2013-2014.
